Personal Protective Equipment Compliance of Visitors on Medical Surgical Units

Observational study and survey of visitors who had poor compliance (40%) to PPE by visitors who did not comply with pictures and understand the need for all isolation PPE. After instructions pamphlet and step by step, compliance to PPE increased to 70%. Recommendation of a change in process to improve compliance with education, brochure, and education to visitors. Small sample size, and collaborative project with infection prevention nurse, recommendations there was a gap in the education to this group. Data improved after targeted education and recommendation to determine the continued effectiveness of educational pamphlet with visitors about PPE for patients in isolation.
