maintained to document the disposal of the material.  High level radioactive material, sources, or waste must be managed by the Radiation Safety Office. Such materials shall be securely stored at all times. Disposal shall be conducted under the conditions listed in the license governing the use of radioactive material at the hospital. The appropriate records shall be maintained on the disposal of these sources of waste EM .02.02.05 (5) the plan identifies means for radioactive, biological, and chemical isolation and decontamination: Facilities for decontamination are maintained and coordinated through the Engineering Department, Emergency Department (ED), Security, Safety, Administration, Emergency Management and EOC /Safety Committees. The effectiveness of these equipment and materials are periodically tested and evaluated. EM .02.02.05 (7-9) Kern Medical establishes processes for controlling entrance into and out of the health care facility during emergencies: At the time the Emergency Management and Operations Plan are activated, the Security Department personnel on duty will be responsible implementing the security Procedures for an Emergency. The following procedures will provide the necessary management of security issues in an emergency, both specific to the Medical Center and on a scale that involves multi-jurisdiction involvement. All Security Department employees are required to familiarize themselves with Kern Medical Policy regarding “Code Orange” and if needed “Code Triage” including the Security Department Unit Specific Disaster Plan. With the activation of the HICS the following procedures are applicable: A. General responsibilities in the event of an emergency.  The Security Shift Supervisor shall assist in the establishment of the Incident Command Center and act in any assigned capacity until relieved by competent authority.  Should the emergency be of such magnitude to warrant additional personnel, the Security Officer in Charge shall make notification to off-duty security officers assigned to KERN MEDICAL to return to work and request additional personnel from Trans West Security as required. B. Access to the Medical Center.  Upon direction from the Incident Commander, the Security Department personnel on duty will be responsible for locking all exits and entrances except for the ambulance bay entrance. Only KERN MEDICAL personnel wearing KERN MEDICAL identification cards or emergency response personnel from other agencies, specifically, fire department, law enforcement, and ambulance personnel will be admitted to the hospital during a disaster.
