How to Respond to a No Pass Zone

1. “ Hello Mr./Mrs. (state patient’s last name). ”

2. “ My name is (state your first name) from the (state your department). ”

3. “ I noticed that your call light is on. ”

4. “ Is there something that I can do for you? ”

5. “ Sure, I can help you with ” or “I’m sorry, I am not trained for that, let me get someone who can help you (request assistance) .”

6. “ Did I get you everything you need for now? ”

7. “ Thank you for letting us know you needed help. ”

All non-nursing staff may …

• Change TV channels or turn TV on/off.

• Move the following for the patient:

• Turn bed lights on/off.

o Call bell bedside device

• Obtain
