Basic Spanish interpreting only.

• Must have bilingual certification.

Clinical Health Care Interpreter

• Kern Medical is partnered with the Healthcare Interpreter Network to provide clinical interpreting services.

• Kern Medical employees may provide clinical interpreting services if qualified.

o Must have supervisor approval.

o There is an online test available in multiple languages.

o An interpreter ID will be assigned for employees who pass.

• The following significant healthcare services require a clinical healthcare interpreter:

Obtaining informed consent.

o

Taking medical histories.

o

o Providing medication instructions (including high alert medications).

o Explaining discharge plans (including high alert medications).

o Discussing advance directives and end of life decisions.
