Whislteblower Rights & Protections
A whistleblower disclosure is information which the whistleblower (the person making the disclosure) reasonably believes evidences: • a violation of law, rule, or regulation; • gross mismanagement; • gross waste of funds; • an abuse of authority; or • a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety. All such concerns should be reported to the Compliance Officer or Compliance Hotline. Recognizing that whistleblowers root out waste, fraud, and abuse, and protect public health and safety, Federal laws strongly encourage employees to disclose wrongdoing. Federal laws also protect whistleblowers from retaliation. Kern Medical policy strongly encourages all employees to report any wrong doing and strictly forbids retaliation (adverse action, non-promotion, or other discrimination) against them for doing so. If you see something, say something! • REMEMBER… If you witness or have ANY concerns about Patient Privacy, Compliance, Code of Conduct wrong doing, or wrong use of PHI, REPORT IT! • Notify your direct Supervisor (chain of command), or • Notify the Compliance Officer @ 326-2187, or • Call the Compliance Hotline
