Kern County Hospital Authority Drug & Alcohol Policy • Employees shall not

• Sell, provide or use drugs while on property or on standby • If we suspect violation we reserve the right to notify you and search property we control (locker, desk etc.) • Property not under our control we will notify proper law enforcement • Policy applies to alcohol and any other drugs that could impair your ability to do your job safely and effectively • County can test pre employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post accident, return to duty and follow up. • Youwill have 24 hours to supply a prescription tomedical reviewofficer if test outcome is positive • Prescription drugs • Using prescription medication is not a violation • Using someone else’s prescription is a violation • Your responsibility to notify your supervisor of medication you are taking or start taking that may interfere with operation of hospital equipment • Tell supervisor before you begin work • Same rules apply for over the counter medication • If you think you have a problem or are developing an alcohol or substance abuse problem, you can activate the EAP (no need for supervisor or HR approval) • Don’t report to work, or on call/standby if impaired by alcohol or drug use. • Policy states your cannot posses or use alcohol during working hours or on call/standby, on break or anytime while on county property • Drug tests are confidential- information given on a need to know basis Tobacco Free Environment
