Donor Breast Milk Supplementation and Breastfeeding Rates

Evidence based project to improve Breastfeeding rates with the introduction of donor breast milk supplementation in premature, infants with failure to thrive, infants with life threatening conditions, and mothers who are unable to supply adequate milk supply. Survey of mothers of their plan to breast feed or what was their preferred method of providing nutrition to their infant. Breastfeeding rate improved during the January 2018-Feb 2019 when the mother was given the choice of donor breastmilk vs their own breast milk. Extensive data collection and comparative data demonstrated the effectiveness of offering donor breast milk as a supplementation. Effective identification of barriers to breastfeeding. Project used good comparative analysis pre and post introduction of donor milk alternative, and the effectiveness of offering donor breast milk and increase breast feeding by the mothers with high risk infants.
