8. Close doors to affected area once the area is evacuated. 9. Have person(s) knowledgeable of the incident and the work area assist emergency personnel upon arrival.  HAZMAT Team Leader will determine activation of CERS  If CERS is activated Notification to proper response teams as outlined in CERS will be followed DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  On-the-job Hazard Communication or Chemical Hygiene training, which is required by OSHA, is the main way for employees to learn how to recognize and respond to chemical releases or spills. Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) can also provide direction.  Department or Area Supervisors are responsible for providing Hazard Communication or Chemical Hygiene training, for ensuring that SDSs are available, and for ensuring spill response supplies are readily available in the area where spills may occur. Security Shift Supervisor shall assist in the establishment of the Incident Command Center and act in any assigned capacity until relieved by competent authority.  The Engineering Department will respond to isolate recirculation of ventilation systems from the isolated area wherever possible or may initiate a fan shutdown in the area. Patients may need to be cohort in areas that will be determined by the IC.   Non-Trained Personnel should never be requested to clean up a spill of hazardous materials for which they have not received Hazard Communication or Chemical Hygiene training.  Security duty will be responsible implementing the security Procedures for an Emergency (EM .02.02.05 (7-9)) Kern Medical establishes processes for controlling entrance into and out of the health care facility, parking lot, and individual departments during emergencies. All Security Department employees are required implement the KERN MEDICAL Policy regarding “Code Orange” and if necessary “Code Triage” including the Security Department Unit Specific Disaster Plan. Should the emergency be of such magnitude to warrant additional personnel, the Security Officer in Charge shall make notification to off-duty security officers assigned to KERN MEDICAL to return to work and request additional personnel from Trans West Security as required.  Upon direction from the Incident Commander, the Security Department personnel on duty will be responsible for locking all exits and entrances except for the ambulance bay entrance.
