Kern Medical Emergency Preparedness

o News Media o Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, MySpace o Email: Interoffice/External o Etc. o Used to notify off duty associates needed at KMH o Departments maintain up to date fan out list that are adequately trained  External Assistance Contacts o Kern County Emergency Management o Kern County Fire & Sheriff o California Office of Emergency Management COMMUNICATION –MEDIA  Public Relations personnel will brief and communicate with the media  Associates should not communicate with the media during a disaster response, except to instruct them where the Media Test is located (East of ECC) DIASTER/ALERT CLARIFICATION  Level I: Possible and/or actual confirmed Mass Casualties (more than 50)  Level II: Possible but unconfirmed multiple casualties (50 or less)  Level III: Weather alert and/or warning or an incident with unknown casualties KEY RESPONSE LOCATIONS:  TRIAGE (Outside of ECC)  EMERGENCY CARE AREA (Inside of ECC)  HAZMAT DECONTAMINATION AREA (Outside ECC) o Patients will enter Triage area for evaluation prior to entering decontamination area. o Patients contaminated with biological, radiation, or chemical materials will be decontaminated before they are allowed to enter KMH  PRESS BRIEFING AREA (Parking East of the D-Wing Main Enterance)  VICTIM FAMILY AREA (Cafeteria)  HUMAN RESOURCE POOL ( First Floor Room 1058 at KMH)  PATIENT CARE (Triage Area) o Patients will enter KMH through triage area which will be located North of the ECC ambulance entrance. o Tracking document is initiated for each patient.  Fan Out Notification System o California Highway Patrol o California National Guard o U.S. Military Assistance o Various State Agencies
