Additional blank copies of the Bomb Threat Checklist shall be kept at the switchboard, Security Department, Nurse Staff Office.  GENERAL RULES WHEN SUSPICIOUS OBJECT FOUND o In the event that a bomb or suspicious condition is found, call Security by dialing the hospital emergency number (5#). o DO NOT:  Attempt to touch or move a suspicious object.  Remove or permit anyone else to remove materials which may aid in the investigation of the crime.  Smoke in the vicinity of a suspected bomb. Do not permit others to smoke.  Accept markings, names, etc., as being legitimate. Explosives can be put in any type container. Bombs are usually camouflaged in some way to prevent detecting them before the explosion.  Use the telephone and tie up lines unnecessarily.  When a suspicious object/suspected explosive device is discovered, call Kern Medical Security by dialing the emergency number (5#). You may evacuate the building if you feel that action is warranted. o 1111 Columbus Clinics  In the event a telephone call is received, and the caller announces there is or will be a bomb placed in the facility, the person receiving the call should:  Keep calm.  Obtain a copy of the Bomb Threat Checklist (see Addendum A).  Note the time of the call.  Note exact words of caller, ask when the bomb is due to go off, where it is located, and what the device looks like. Keep the caller on the phone as long as possible.  Note description of the voice, age, sex, and any discernible back- ground noise.  Call 9-1-1 and report the threat  The Bakersfield Police Department will be the responding police agency. • The building coordinator for 1111 Columbus Clinic (661-326- 6500) is the Clinical Manager for Outpatient Clinics. • Provide the building coordinator with the Bomb Threat Checklist, or in his/her absence, provide the Columbus/Kern Medical Security Officer with the Bomb Threat Checklist.  GUIDELINES - OFF CAMPUS SITES o Ancillary Buildings
