Kern Medical Emergency Preparedness
NOTIFICATION
o Switchboard If the building involved is a Hospital building, upon notification by the security department and/or via the 5# emergency number the switchboard operator on duty shall notify the following: Hospital Administrator, or Administrator on Call Chief Operations Officer Hospital Shift Supervisor Security Engineering Housekeeping INCIDENT COMMAND CENTER o The location of the Incident Command Center will be established after determination of the affected area(s). The Incident Command Center location will be dispatched via the Kern Medical paging system to all requisite personnel. In the event of a pager system failure the Chief Operations Officer and listed contact personnel of the affected area(s) shall be notified by using the “Emergency Call List” (see Addendum B) located in the Kern Medical Switchboard Operator Center. o All incoming calls from emergency agencies will be transferred to the Incident Command Center. o The following personnel will report to the Incident Command Center: Administrator or Administrator on Call Chief Operations Officer Security Manager or Designee Hospital Safety Officer Physical Plant Director (bring layout or blueprints of premises and necessary keys) Hospital Shift Supervisor Receiver of bomb threat for interview. CONTROL AND COORDINATION OF RESPONSE o Authority The Hospital Administrator or Administrator on Call shall assume overall responsibility, until a law enforcement representative takes command of the incident. The police representative shall confer with the Building Coordinator regarding an immediate evacuation. If patient care area, the
