Kern Medical has developed an extensive Emergency Management and Operations Plan that is updated annually and exercised biannually. The Four Steps of Emergency Management • Mitigation • Preparedness • Response • Recovery Kern Medical conducts a Hazard Vulnerability Analysis annually. • The top 3 threats to Kern Medical are: • Earthquake, • Loss of power, and • Information systems failure

HICS and USRP • During a disaster the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) is activated • Every employee has access to the Emergency Operations Plan containing: • Job Action sheets for all HICS positions • Policies and Procedures for all hazard events • All Employees Must: • Follow instriction issued by your supervisor at the time of an incident • Be prepared to provide detailed assessments of your patients and your work • Report to their Departmental Unit Leader after the announcement of a Code Red, Code Orange, or Code Triage

• An outside decontamination shower • Staff trained in the Hospital Incident Command system (HICS)
