Know What to do in an Emergency

Safety Tips • Watch for signs that may be associated with impending violence: • Verbally expressed anger and frustration, threatening body language • Signs of drug or alcohol use • Evaluate each situation for potential violence

• Don’t isolate yourself with a potentially violent person, kee an open path for exit • Be aware of potential weapons and their accessibility (needles, scissors, tools, etc.) Non-Emergent Security Response • Contact Security by dialing operator at “0” and security will be dispatched to your location Emergent Security Response or Violence • Dial 5# and provide pertinent information (i.e. room number, nature of the incident, code gray, silver or black. • Protect yourself FIRST • Give the person what he or she wants, if you can • If a weapon is present do not try to take away the person’s weapon Dial 5# activate Code Silver response • Code Black Active Shooter response: Hear Gun or See Gun=RUN. If you cannot run HIDE and call 911 , lock doors, place barriers and turn cell phone to silent & be Quiet. If you are found FIGHT the attacker. Maintaining a safe environment keeps all of us safe, helps us to do our job, and keeps everyone happy!
