Hand Protection Use gloves for all potential or actual contact with:
• Blood or body fluids • Infectious materials • Contaminated surfaces Gloves are single use items • Do not alter
• Use once, then dispose in a proper trash container • Do not use hand sanitizer or soap and water for re use • Artificial nails (acrylic, wraps, nail adornments) not allowed in patient care areas Gowns Use when body fluid splashes onto skin or clothing are likely to occur • Gather supplies before donning • Put on before entering the room • Remove at the doorway • Place in trash, assuring that the gown fits properly inside the trash in the room • Do not wear the gown outside the room
