Eye & Face Protection Goggles- protect the eyes

• Use when there is a potential for splash • Should fit snugly over & around eyes • Regular glasses are not a substitute for goggles Face shields- protects nose, mouth & eyes • Should cover forehead, extend below chin & wrap around side of face • Try mask with face shield • Simple masks should fully cover nose & mouth Respiratory Protection Respirators: • Special masks (N95s) that protect the respiratory system from germs • Require initial and annual “fit” test for proper • Self-mask fit with each use PAPRs • Powered air purifying respirators • Used by staff when patients on airborne or droplet precautions for high risk procedures • Bronchoscopies, laryngoscopies, intubation, sputum induction, pulmonary function tests, aerosolized medication treatments
